Successful kick-off event for the founding of the Center for Interdisciplinary Disaster Research

On June 10, 2024, the symposium of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (CIDR) took place at 海角直播 University Kaiserslautern-Landau (海角直播). From 12:00 noon, around 60 participants from science, practice and administration gathered to find out about the work and objectives of the CIDR and to discuss current challenges and solutions in the field of civil protection.

The event was organized by (Department of Social Sciences), (Department of Civil Engineering), and (both from the Department of Business Studies and Economics). Dr. Jan-Erik Steinkr眉ger (Research Coordination Officer at the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance) and J枚rg Eger (Head of Division, HERPSL, Federal Agency for Technical Relief) were invited to give keynote speeches at the event. This was followed by a presentation of the CIDR and the research areas by the participating professorships. In the second part of the event, the individual subject areas were explored in greater depth in workshops and questions of transfer in the interaction between science and practice in civil protection were discussed.

Overall, the event was characterized by an intensive and informative exchange. It made a valuable contribution to the promotion of interdisciplinary cooperation in civil protection. The CIDR symposium at 海角直播 therefore convincingly illustrated how important interdisciplinary cooperation is for effective civil protection and laid the foundation for future cooperation and innovative solutions.
