Review: CIDR Symposium 2025 - Complex situations, new answers

CIDR Symposium 2025
CIDR Symposium 2025 Lieth

Our second CIDR Symposium took place on 14 November at 海角直播 Kaiserslautern - with over 75 registrations from the fire department, DRK, THW, hospitals, municipal utilities, administration and many other organizations and authorities in the region. A strong sign of how central the topic of crisis and disaster management has become.

The focus was on complex situations, which we in research and practice refer to as multi-crises. Situations in which several events occur that influence each other, tie up resources and push traditional emergency response structures to their limits.

To illustrate the complexity, we have outlined an example from Kaiserslautern:
鉃★笍Ein A terrorist attack at the Fritz Walter Stadium, a mass accident on the A6 motorway and, at the same time, heavy rainfall that floods roads and makes access difficult.

Three situations, three dynamics - a region that has to react simultaneously.
This is precisely where the importance of coordination, trust and interdisciplinary cooperation becomes apparent.

With inspiring impulses from
馃敼 (D眉sseldorf Fire Department),
馃敼 (THW Sinzig),
馃敼 Major (KVK Trier) and
馃敼 StR' (DRK Kaiserslautern)
, we shed light on how municipalities, emergency services, critical infrastructure and the population can prepare for such situations.

We would like to thank everyone who attended and discussed with us - and thus contributed to making the Kaiserslautern region and beyond more resilient and capable of action.

We are already looking forward to the next formats - and to continuing the dialog between science and practice.
