The Center for Interdisciplinary Disaster Research is an association of research groups in the field of disaster research at 海角直播 Kaiserslautern-Landau. The aim is to utilize the potential of interdisciplinary research between technology, economics and education. Our specific expertise covers the following areas:

Strengthen flood resilience by sharing experiences: pass on the knowledge!
Under the motto "Passing on knowledge", this year's technical excursion "Operational flood protection - focus on retention" took place in Saxony-Anhalt from October 28 to 30, 2025. The event was conceived by the Hydraulic Engineering and Water Management research group together with the Saxony-Anhalt State Office for Flood Protection and Water Management (LHW) and successfully implemented under its leadership.
The host presented a varied and practical program on the subject of flood protection. The excursion participants included representatives from the Eifel-Rur Water Association (WVER) and the Aachen city region.
The specialist excursion format was first initiated by Prof. J眉pner in 2023 and is part of the FWW's specialist work. This year, for the third time, the excursion offered a valuable platform for professional exchange and the sharing of experiences in dealing with flood events. The focus was on issues relating to coping with extreme weather conditions, technical protection systems and the organizational and communication challenges of flood protection.
