Lecture: Environmental Peacebuilding - Thinking environment and peace together

"What kind of a UN does it need to make peace?" was the topic of this year's UN lecture series at the TU Dresden, where Rebecca Froese, research associate at the Peace Academy, spoke on June 1 at the invitation of the United Nations student associations on the topic of environmental peacebuilding.

The lecture began with a brief overview of the various frameworks used by the United Nations to address the multiple crises of the Anthropocene - climate change, species extinction, soil loss and social inequality. Rebecca Froese then contrasted the climate-conflict nexus with the climate-peace nexus before discussing the specifics of environmental peacebuilding using the example of forest protection.
