Online Discussion: 'Localization and the Politics of Humanitarian Action'
The journal 'Frontiers in Political Science' and the Institute for International Law of Peace and Humanitarian Law (IFHV) Bochum are hosting two online discussion rounds on the topic of 'Localization and the Politics of Humanitarian Action'. Charlotte Dany took part in the first event with a contribution to the debate on challenges and perspectives in humanitarian aid in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the first panel discussion, four international experts exchanged views on the difficulties of involving local actors in humanitarian aid. They discussed the tension between solidarity and localization, success factors and obstacles to implementation, as well as the problematic history of the idea of localization from an African perspective. The discussion will continue on February 7 at 1 pm at a follow-up event with four more experts.
All interested parties are cordially invited to register to register for this event on February 7.
The articles in the Frontiers special issue 'Localization and the Politics of Humanitarian Action' are available freely available online.
