New brochure on the Hambach Festival: Why 2022 is not 1832
190 years of the Hambach Festival! To mark this event, a new brochure has recently been published that takes a critical look at current attempts at reinterpretation - including by right-wing populists. The brochure contains articles that place current events in context and provide information on the historical background to the Hambach Festival. Charlotte Dany's contribution locates the so-called 'New Hambach Festival' within the New Right's strategy of appropriating important places of remembrance in the history of German democracy.
